Yoga for Emotional Resilience

This program has been designed for anyone who feels that their emotional state is like a tsunami of feeling and overwhelm that dominates their day to day life. You might be dealing with depression, anxiety, insomnia, difficulty in concentrating or just not really present in your life. Over six, 75 minute sessions you will explore the messages that your nervous system is sending you that you might be ignoring or not know how to respond to the feelings or sensations that are arising. Over this program you will be introduced to the following

  1. The Window Of Tolerance ( Dan Siegal) & the Polyvagal Theory (Stephen Porges)- great models to help you understand how your nervous system senses safety and what it does to get you safe- even if that doesn’t make day to day living easier eg isolating yourself or having elaborate processes to get through all the potential triggers in a day

  2. Understand how to figure out the most effective way to respond to these nervous system signals- rather than them being annoying aspects of your personality you might get to the point of being curious and embracing them to help you make better decisions

  3. Become familiar with what movement patterns actually help calm and soothe your nervous system. We will also look at practices that support in increasing your healthy vitality rather than always running on adrenalin

  4. Open up to how your breathing is keeping you alive- no-one in this world is breathing the wrong way. You will always be breathing in the way that works best for your whole system. Once your nervous system becomes more stable then you have the choice to explore how working with your breath might take you to a new level of regulation of control. Your natural breath will have more options to explore.

Participants who have completed this program continue to be amazed at the difference of their quality of life - you will discover and explore techniques that are attuned to what your system needs. In between each session, you have the opportunity to practice an aspect of our work together so that you can consolidate the new awareness and skills that you will develop through this program. Before commencing the program you will be required to complete a program application so that I can check that this program is suitable for you. If you are currently going through changes in medication or experiencing an instability in your mental health this may not be the right program for you right now. Happy to have a chat however so we can decide what might be most useful.

This program is offered only on a one to one, face to face basis in my clinic at Varsity Lakes. So that we can maximise the time we spend together, it is not available at this stage online.

Details of the Program

You will need to book 6 consecutive sessions ( weekly is preferable, but fortnightly is possible). I am in the clinic Monday through to Friday 9am-5pm and I start at 12 noon on Tuesdays. The cost of this program is $660 (inc GST) for the entire 6 sessions. You can choose to use a 4 payment instalment with PayPal if that is useful for you or alternatively pay for the full amount at your first session via credit card or direct deposit into my bank account.

OUTCOMES

I recently had the pleasure of attending the 'Yoga For Emotional Resilience' course with Shirley.

Over the last ten years I've had some issues with anxiety, low self esteem, and insomnia. I tried various methods of treatment with little success. This Yoga class gave me the tools I need to become more settled, to think more calmly and become less reactive to to stressful and anxiety causing situations.

Learning about breathing and an introduction to meditation was really valuable, and has changed the way I feel mentally and physically.

Shirley is a warm and caring professional, and she is extremely knowledgable about how the mind and body function, and  I really enjoyed doing this course with her
